SAT Prep Strategy

Targeted practice on OnePrep should only be used if a student is significantly underperforming in a specific section and the student otherwise meets the criteria for studying on OnePrep based on their score range

Practice SAT Requirement

9th or 10th Grade

Full Practice SAT every 2–3 months, depending on mentor judgment and student progress

11th Grade

Full Practice SAT every 6 weeks to closely track improvement leading into official SAT exams

All practice exams should be taken under real testing conditions
Students must send their full score report to the mentor after completing the exam so results can be reviewed in the next meeting

Study Commitment Per Session

Ask each student how many hours they can realistically commit per week — target range is 3 to 5 hours per week
Since meetings occur every two weeks, students are expected to complete 6 to 10 total hours of SAT preparation before the next session
Mentors will have access to Khan Academy through the username and password feature — review study hours completed during meetings

Primary Role of a Mentor

The primary role of a College Connected mentor is to strategically guide students through a structured admissions development system while serving as a high-accountability performance partner. The mentor ensures consistent execution, measurable progress, and disciplined growth.

Strategy Autonomy

Mentors are expected to follow the College Connected system. Independent strategy creation is not encouraged unless clearly beneficial and aligned with the program. Any significant deviation must be approved by management.

Bi-Weekly Goals Format

Bi-weekly goals must follow the exact College Connected format. Structure, clarity, and professionalism are non-negotiable. This protects brand consistency and quality control.

Admissions & Guarantees

Mentors may discuss admissions positioning and scholarship possibilities. Mentors must never guarantee admission into any university. College Connected builds strong positioning — it does not promise outcomes.

What Is Not the Mentor's Responsibility

Mentors are not responsible for:

Emotional counseling or mental health support
Immigration advice or legal guidance
Financial aid negotiation
School disciplinary intervention

Mentors focus on academic positioning, strategic development, and accountability.

Communication Channels

All communication with students must happen through the official WhatsApp group chat that includes parents. Students are minors. No private communication is allowed under any circumstance.

All communication must occur within official College Connected systems. No side communication permitted.

If a student messages you privately through WhatsApp, privately let them know that all future communication must go through the approved group chat. Then respond to their question through the group chat, not privately.

Internal Team Communication

Internal team communication happens through Google Chat and WhatsApp for quicker communication. Google Chat will be used to assign tasks to team members. Please have both apps downloaded on your phone and desktop.

Parent Updates

Parents must receive a written update within 24 hours of every student meeting. Ideally, this should be sent immediately after the meeting ends.

Fast response times are expected from all mentors

Friendly but never casual — supportive but always firm

Scheduling Policy

Meeting times are set by the mentor. Meetings should not be rescheduled. If absolutely necessary, rescheduling must happen at least 24 hours before the meeting. The mentor must notify the group chat with the reason and propose the next available time.

Students must never use "Sign in with Google" for any platform
All accounts must be created with email and password only
Mentors must maintain full access to student platforms

Compensation Model

Mentors are paid hourly. All hours must be submitted through the official timesheet and are subject to approval before payment.

Max Meeting Hours

Per student, per month. Includes live call, goal writing, and sending to group chat.

Max Backend Hours

Per student, per month. For SAT review, essay review, cert review, prep.

Additional Hours

If additional backend time is required for a specific reason, this is possible. You must provide a detailed written description of what was done for each student. Additional hours require approval and are not automatic.

Removal Triggers

A mentor may be removed for any of the following:

Inconsistent or delayed follow-up with students
Poor responsiveness to students, families, or management
Weak accountability enforcement — letting goals slide
Communication outside official College Connected channels
Deviating from the College Connected system without approval
Overpromising outcomes or guaranteeing admissions results

Goal Failure Escalation

If a student fails to complete goals three consecutive cycles, and this has been documented in parent updates each time, the mentor must escalate to their manager immediately.

College Connected is not a transactional college consulting service. It is a structured, long-term profile building system. Every action — every certificate, SAT hour, extracurricular move, and volunteering hour — is intentional. The company prioritizes measurable growth, strategic positioning, and disciplined accountability. There are no random activities, no last-minute scrambling, and no empty promises.

Mentor Tone

Performance-driven, structured, motivating, and clear. Friendly but never casual. Supportive but firm. Students should feel guided and pushed at the same time. This process is serious and requires discipline — students must understand that.

Dress Code

Mentors represent College Connected during all student and parent meetings. A professional appearance is required at all times.

Esta semana completaste 1 hora de voluntariado. Estás buscando una oportunidad en Interfaith cerca de ti. Si no encontramos algo presencial, consideraremos opciones virtuales, aunque la prioridad es encontrar una oportunidad presencial.

Maria trabajará ahora en su próximo certificado de inversiones a través de Bank of America, donde aprenderá sobre estrategias de inversión, qué acciones tienen mayor potencial, cómo se mueve el mercado y las razones financieras detrás de esos movimientos. Vamos a comenzar la investigación universitaria para identificar las universidades a las que Maria está interesada en aplicar. Por favor comienza con una lista de las primeras tres universidades que sabes que te gustaría considerar (como las principales de Texas), y a partir de ahí compararemos programas académicos, cultura del campus, becas, carreras, etc. Es importante que completes todos los campos requeridos para cada universidad.

Maria ha hecho un progreso excelente con la preparación del SAT. En las últimas dos semanas, completó un total de 11 horas de estudio entre Khan Academy y OnePrep, superando la meta semanal de 8 horas. Se está sintiendo más confiada, especialmente en Reading and Writing, al descomponer los textos/preguntas y usar process of elimination.
Maria siente que Khan Academy está complementando muy bien a OnePrep, ya que está aplicando directamente en OnePrep los conceptos que aprende en Khan Academy.

Maria ya empezó su college planner e investigó seis universidades: UT Austin, NYU, Texas A&M, Rice, Baylor y UF. Continuará expandiendo esta investigación agregando tres universidades más, incluyendo rangos de SAT para las business schools, cultura del campus, empresas que reclutan en la universidad y resultados de carrera.

Maria tomó su SAT hoy y obtuvo un puntaje de 1180. Se sintió mucho mejor durante el examen. En matemáticas notó una mejora clara en la comprensión de los conceptos y también se sintió más cómoda con el manejo del tiempo. En la sección de Reading, el vocabulario fue un reto — esto lo trabajaremos directamente estudiando vocabulario específico del SAT.
Maria programará una sesión de tutoría para revisar las preguntas que falló en el examen del SAT y reforzar esos conceptos con el tutor de SAT.

Una vez finalizado el certificado de CBRE, Maria comenzará el certificado de Carbon Credits con Oliver Wyman, donde aprenderá cómo los consultores trabajan con empresas para hacerlas más eficientes en términos de carbono. Este certificado toma 5 horas y debe comenzarse después de completar el de CBRE.
Maria completó las universidades en su College Planner. Ahora realizará investigación universitaria para University of Michigan, USC y Boston University. En la próxima reunión, definiremos a cuáles universidades aplicará y veremos las opciones de Early Decision y Early Action.

Las notas actuales de Maria este semestre son las siguientes: AP U.S. History 86.5 (85 en el último examen), Algebra 2 TAP 101, Legal Research 96, AP Language Arts 96.45, French Honors 95 y AP Environmental Science 76 (varias notas aún no han sido subidas). La meta es mantener las notas altas y monitorear APES una vez que se actualicen todas las notas.
Maria tomará el SAT Practice Test 6 el 28 de febrero bajo condiciones completas de examen para prepararse para el SAT oficial del 14 de marzo. Este examen nos permitirá evaluar su progreso.
Una vez que termine el examen de práctica, deberás agendar una sesión de tutoría para revisar las preguntas incorrectas con el tutor.

Maria ha estado utilizando la calculadora Desmos durante su práctica, lo cual es clave para mejorar su puntaje en Math.
Maria completó el certificado de CBRE enfocado en real estate. Trabajó en escenarios prácticos relacionados con decisiones sobre nuevos edificios y análisis de situaciones inmobiliarias. Le tomó aproximadamente 2 horas y ya fue agregado a su portafolio.
También completó el certificado de Oliver Wyman, donde aprendió sobre carbon credits y carbon futures en el mercado financiero. Este certificado tomó aproximadamente 3 horas y ya fue agregado a su portafolio.
Maria comenzará el certificado de Fixed Income con meta de completarlo hasta la mitad (Task 3). Este certificado incluye temas financieros más avanzados como derivados y distintos tipos de inversiones. Si se vuelve muy demandante, cambiará al certificado de Vista Private Equity.
Maria ya completó la investigación de University of Michigan, USC y Boston University. Ahora investigará Indiana University, University of Colorado Boulder y University of New Mexico para fortalecer su lista de universidades target y safety.

Metas de Maria — Reunión 8

Las notas actuales de Maria este semestre son las siguientes: Algebra 2 98.9, Legal Research 96, AP Lang 98, French Honors 93, y APES 83, que subió 7 puntos. Las notas están subiendo. ¡Buen trabajo Maria!
Maria tomará el SAT Practice Test el domingo 1ero de Marzo. El objetivo principal no es el puntaje, sino identificar qué áreas necesitan enfocarnos del SAT del 14 de marzo. Una vez termine, deberá enviar el reporte completo y agendar sesión de tutoría para revisar las preguntas incorrectas.
Maria ya está registrada y pagó el SAT que tomará en Tomball High School el 14 de marzo.
En Khan Academy, Maria está en la Unidad 12 y ha completado 180 minutos desde la última reunión. La meta será 2 a 3 horas para terminar completamente todas las unidades restantes antes del examen de práctica.
Después de finalizar Khan Academy, el enfoque cambiará a OnePrep. Maria ha completado 7 horas en OnePrep y está mostrando mejora clara en el porcentaje de respuestas correctas. El trabajo ahora será concentrarse en los conceptos que identificó el examen de práctica.

Tiago's Goals — Meeting 1

Tiago is sure he wants to study business. This is great to know early on, as it allows us to start shaping a strong profile around your future major.
We will still complete the vocational questionnaire. Please be as detailed as possible in your responses so that we can get the most accurate report back.
Tiago will go ahead and take a practice PSAT. Please make sure this is done in a real SAT environment with no distractions. Once you get the score back, send it to me. We'll plan to take the practice PSAT on Sunday the 7th, or on Saturday the 13th if you weren't able to do it this past weekend. You'll log in to Bluebook using your CollegeBoard credentials.
Tiago will take the official PSAT at school on October 5th. Please confirm this date with your school so we know it's final.
After your practice PSAT, go over the questions you missed before our next bi-weekly session. During our next meeting, we'll develop your studying strategy based on your score. For now, we'll focus on preparing for the PSAT since it's coming up soon.

Tiago has been going to the gym after school. He was in soccer class, studies a lot after school, and also manages a stock account with investments in BlackRock, Tesla, Bitcoin, Vanguard, Vanguard Total Stock ETF, and Alphabet. This is awesome!
Tiago will take out his first certificate through BCG, where he will learn about consulting and different industries. He will also work on a case study of a luxury clothing brand with declining sales, analyzing strategies to improve revenue and growth. This certificate should take about 2 hours to complete. Tiago is currently volunteering at his church, helping with classrooms, book studies, and bible activities. We'll continue with 4 hours per week of volunteering to start building up your certified hours.
Tiago would like to learn about artificial intelligence. We'll get started on this once we understand your study strategy and goals.
Tiago is not sure about which clubs to join after school. Go ahead and attend the DECA meeting on Thursday the 11th from 3:00–4:00 PM in LG1. Also, attend the Student Council meeting on September 8th at 6:00 PM in the Main Campus Cafeteria. Both are great clubs to be part of.

Tiago's Goals — Meeting 2

Tiago has completed his vocational report, and I'll send the report over to you.
Tiago's grades are as follows: English 2 – 80, Chemistry – 89, Accounting – 90, Sports & Entertainment Marketing – 96, Intro to Culinary Arts – 95, World History – 85, Geometry – 83, and Entrepreneurship – 100. He's also getting math tutoring — awesome.
Tiago scored a 770 on his PSAT. While the score is low, it gives us a starting point to work from. The good thing is we have plenty of time to improve. Math score was 380: Algebra 2/7, Advanced Math 2/7, Problem Solving and Data Analysis 1/7, Geometry/Trigonometry 1/7. Reading & Writing score was 390: Information and Ideas 3/7, Craft and Structure 2/7, Expression of Ideas 3/7, Standard English Conventions 1/7.
Tiago felt unprepared for the exam, which is normal. We'll plan to retake it after he's been studying consistently for a few months.
On average, Tiago already spends about 3 hours each day on homework and studying. We'll build his SAT plan around this so it doesn't interfere with his regular schoolwork.
Tiago's SAT goal for now will be 3 hours per week. We'll split that time between math and reading & writing. The plan is to study math one day and English the other, working carefully through the modules. The early modules are especially important because they're the foundation.
Tiago finished his BCG certificate where he learned about marketing strategies and ways to improve business performance. It took him about 2 hours, and we've added it to his portfolio.
His next certificate will be the BCG Digital Transformation program. Here he'll learn about how companies use new technologies to improve sales and run more efficiently. This certificate should take about 4 hours to complete. Once you finish it, send it over to me so I can add it to your portfolio.
Tiago is also volunteering at church. So far, he's completed 4.5 hours over three sessions (1.5 hours each). The goal is to keep going with about 4 hours over the next two weeks.
Tiago wasn't able to attend club meetings last week since he was sick. Make sure to attend DECA and Student Council when you're back, since both are great options to build your business profile.
Tiago has mentioned wanting to learn about artificial intelligence. We'll start this once his SAT study plan is consistent and we know he's on track with his main goals.

Tiago has completed a total of 3 hours of SAT studying since the last meeting, plus an additional 3 hours during the week of our meeting. He is understanding the material and watching videos to strengthen his fundamentals. He is completing most of his study hours over the weekend.
Tiago has been dividing his time evenly between Reading & Writing and Math. The goal moving forward is to continue completing three weekly hours of SAT studying consistently. By next meeting, you should have completed a total of 6 hours.
Tiago took the PSAT on October 16th at school. Please send over the scores once you receive them.
Tiago completed his Digital Transformation certificate through BCG. He analyzed different companies to understand how their digital operations could be improved — including a fast-food Chinese company and Starbucks, focusing on how Starbucks' rewards system could be enhanced. It took Tiago about 4 hours to complete and has been added to his portfolio.
Tiago will now complete his Bank of America certificate. In this program, he will learn about global markets, financial data analysis, and strategies to improve client revenue by executing trades and developing client-focused solutions. This certificate aligns well with Tiago's interests. It should take about 4 hours to complete. Please send it to [email protected] once completed.
Tiago's volunteering has gone well. He missed one Monday but still attended another, adding 1.5 new hours. In total, Tiago has now volunteered 4 times and currently has 6 certified hours. Moving forward, he will attend the next two Mondays to continue building his volunteer hours.
Tiago was not able to attend either club meeting. Please make sure to attend both DECA and Student Council meetings, as they are strong clubs connected to business and leadership.
Tiago would like to begin learning about Artificial Intelligence. We will get started once he has completed his studying strategy and established his academic goals.

The goal for this quarter is to raise the B grades to A's so the semester average will be A's. The 83 in Geometry is mostly due to assignments. Tiago is already attending tutoring for this class, but you can also schedule an additional tutoring session using the link I will send.
Tiago completed 6 hours of SAT studying through Khan Academy. He is close to finishing Unit 2 in the Math section and has started Unit 3 in Reading and Writing. Great progress so far, and you're clearly understanding the material well.
Tiago's goal moving forward will be to continue completing 3 weekly hours of SAT studying. Keep up the great consistency.
Tiago took the PSAT and felt he performed better than on the practice test. He mentioned that the exam felt easier overall, especially the math section. Please send me the score once you receive it.
Tiago completed the Bank of America trading certificate. He learned about analyzing market trends, creating sales solutions, and identifying which stocks to buy. The certificate took about 5 hours to complete and has been added to his portfolio.
Tiago expressed interest in environmental sustainability. His next certificate will be from BCG on sustainability and climate strategy. This program takes 3–4 hours and focuses on how consulting firms help companies decarbonize and meet environmental goals. Please complete this certificate and send it to my email once finished.
Tiago volunteered one Monday for 1.5 hours. The goal is to complete an additional 3 hours of volunteering.
Tiago will start his certificate on Multi-AI Agents. He will learn how AI agents work, how they perform tasks independently, and how they're being used in daily life to increase efficiency.
Tiago decided not to join any clubs this semester since he feels he doesn't have enough time to participate consistently.

Tiago has completed 4 hours on Khan Academy since the last meeting. He finished Unit 3 and has now moved on to Unit 4 in the math section. For the next two weeks, the goal will be reduced to 2 hours total due to final exams.
Tiago received his PSAT score back: 930 overall, 510 in Reading and Writing, 420 in Math. This is a 160-point improvement since starting the program. Great job Tiago!
Tiago will take another practice PSAT on Saturday, January 10th, to measure progress. Please continue reviewing over winter break to stay sharp and be as prepared as possible for the exam.
Tiago completed his EAB AI Lead Generation certificate, where he learned how businesses use AI to find leads and close deals. The certificate has been added to his portfolio.
Tiago's next certificate will be through Vista Equity Partners. He will learn about private equity, including how firms evaluate companies and decide when to invest. This certificate should take about 2 hours to complete.
Tiago volunteered for 1.5 hours the week before Thanksgiving. If there's another opportunity in the next two weeks, try to complete it before the year ends.
Tiago has not yet worked on the Multi-AI Agents certificate. We'll revisit this after finals if time allows.

Tiago's Goals — Meeting 6

Tiago's final grades for last semester were: English 2 – 85, Chemistry – 88, Accounting – 77, Sports & Entertainment Marketing – 94, Intro to Culinary Arts – 99, World History – 89, Geometry – 84, Entrepreneurship – 97. Overall, these are strong grades. The goal for this upcoming semester is to push the high B's into A's.
Now that we are back from break, Tiago will resume SAT prep through Khan Academy. He is starting Unit 3 in the SAT Math section and is currently in Unit 4 for Reading and Writing. He has been mastering his units and building a strong foundation for the exam.

Tiago will confirm his summer travel dates. Competitive summer programs have deadlines in February and March, so this way we will decide which programs we will apply to.
Tiago did not complete the private equity certificate over the break. This certificate will introduce him to the private equity industry, including how firms analyze companies, invest across different industries, and prepare companies for growth. This certificate should take approximately 2 hours to complete. Once finished, please email it to [email protected] so it can be added to his portfolio.
Tiago volunteered this Monday for 1.5 hours. He will not have the opportunity to volunteer this upcoming Monday, but we will continue to look for consistent volunteering opportunities moving forward.
We will pause the Multi-AI Agents certificate for now while Tiago gets back into the rhythm of school. The priority at this stage is maintaining strong grades, restarting SAT prep, and completing the private equity certificate.
Once summer travel dates are confirmed, we will start applying to business summer programs. We will review these options during the next meeting.

Tiago's Goals — Meeting 7

Tiago's current grades are as follows: English – 87, Chemistry – 83 (70 on the test), Sports & Entertainment Marketing – 81, Intro to Culinary Arts – 100, World History – 90, Geometry – 80, Entrepreneurship – 99, Social Media Marketing – 93. He has had to prepare more for the Geometry class outside of school.
Tiago has had a lot of quizzes for math and has been studying hard for his classes. He has not been consistent with his SAT Prep since his last meeting for this reason. Moving forward, he will commit to 3 hours per week of SAT prep. One full week will focus entirely on Math, and the following week will focus entirely on Reading and Writing. Go back to the last lesson of Unit 4 of Reading and Writing.
Tiago has not yet taken the PSAT practice exam. Please go ahead and download BlueBook to your computer. The next PSAT practice test will be scheduled in March after consistent studying.
Tiago has started the MIT LaunchX program, aligned with his entrepreneurial interests. He will continue progressing through the modules and please send over the certificate to me once you have it.
Tiago completed the Private Equity certificate where he learned about the industry and what figures you look for when buying a company for it to have the potential to go public in the future. This certificate took Tiago about 3 hours to complete and has now been added to his portfolio.
His next assigned certificate is the PwC Management Consulting certificate, where he will learn about the problems that consultants solve in the food, technology, and retail industries, and how to understand the financial health of a company from their balance sheet. This certificate is 5 hours long — your goal will be to be halfway done by next meeting.
Tiago did volunteer one Monday since our last meeting. He will continue volunteering on the next two Mondays and track all hours.
Tiago will complete both the Stanford summer program registration and continue filling out the application. Once he reaches the essay prompts, he will send them over so you can meet with the writer to look over your essays and your application. Please make sure you are working through both applications to submit as soon as possible.

Tiago's Goals — Meeting 8

Tiago's third quarter grades are: English – 81, Chemistry – 84, Sports and Entertainment Marketing – 90, Intro to Culinary Arts – 100, World History – 93, and Geometry – 79. Geometry is the main class that needs attention before the quarter ends. Tiago will work on retaking a test and completing a major project to help raise this grade.
Tiago will also speak with his teachers in Social Media Marketing, Sports and Entertainment Marketing, and World History to make sure his grades remain in the A range and do not drop into a B.
Tiago has completed 5 hours of SAT preparation on Khan Academy. He is understanding the concepts better and reading and writing is becoming simpler to solve. The goal will continue to be 3 hours of SAT preparation per week moving forward.
Because Tiago will be traveling to San Francisco for spring break, the SAT study goal will temporarily adjust. He will aim to complete at least 2 hours of SAT preparation before leaving for the trip, and then resume the normal study schedule after spring break.
While studying Reading and Writing, Tiago should actively look up any unfamiliar vocabulary words that appear in reading passages as this is the best way to improve reading comprehension.
Tiago is currently progressing through the MIT Launch X program and is in the 3rd task out of 7. He will aim to continue progressing through the MIT Launch X Program.
In the PwC Management Consulting certificate, Tiago has completed two tasks and is now on Task 3. He has learned to complete a business summary and analyzed the Tesla brand. The goal for your next meeting will be to complete the PwC certificate and send it over to my email.
Tiago has completed about 1.5 hours of volunteering during the last two Mondays. Volunteering will pause during spring break but will continue after the break.
Tiago has completed the questions for his ProjectXImpact meeting. Please send over the answers prior to your ProjectXImpact meeting.
Tiago will not apply to the Stanford summer program. Instead, he will enroll in the Wharton AI for Business course during the summer.
The next PSAT practice test is expected to take place within the next month. The exact date will be confirmed during the next meeting. Please make sure you are staying consistent with your SAT Prep.
